What do you plan to get out of this internship?
To me, the most powerful tool a person can have is an education. As an intern i get the opportunity to educate others on important health topics that they wouldn't normally seek out. This information has the potential to change a person for the better, or allow them to help a friend. Which, in turn, can improve the world, one person at a time.
What are your future goals?
At the moment I'm just trying to get use to the fact that i won't be going to school anymore after this year. Hopefully, I'll be able to work in the health education department of a university or something in school counseling.

Name: Jeffrey Chan
Major: Psychology
Title: Intern Alumni
What do you plan to get out of this internship?
I am a STAR intern simply because I am finally doing something that reaches out to the student body. I had personally experienced and seen the affects of drugs and alcohol when they are used improperly, and to me learning and teaching others to lower and prevent such first or second effects is really meaningful. More importantly, helping those who may be confused with their views and attitudes towards drugs and alcohol is something I am supportive of, clarifying misconceptions and simply educating. This reason to me makes this job worthwhile.
What are your future goals?
In the future I hope to continue being an educator in all aspects of my life. Whether I continue as a health educator as a profession or not, I wish to continue my learning and practices that I have learned from this group to all those around me, from family to friends and even future acquaintances.

Name: Jen Koepnick

Title: Intern Alumni
What do you plan to get out of this internship?
As a STAR intern, I am able to reach out to my peers through fun and interactive presentations, tablings, and other informal settings to promote safe and healthy behavior regarding alcohol and other drug use. Since alcohol and drugs are prevalent in the college environment, my goal is not to prevent use but rather encourage alcohol and other drug awareness and responsibility. STAR is an awesome way for me to get involved on campus, meet new people, and have fun!!
What are your future goals?
I have several potential plans: study psychology in England for two years, work for Teach for America, or take a year off to work and travel before obtaining a teaching credential and masters in education at a graduate school in California.

What do you plan to get out of this internship?
I became an intern basically to help people and be in a chill atmosphere to do it. I have grown accustomed to the negative affects of drugs and alcohol through experiences with family and close friends and I just want to be in a position where if somebody needs some help I could give them a relevant ear.
What are your future goals?
My future plan is to make sure when I'm an old haggard man that I have made all of my dreams and aspirations become reality in some way. I'm trying to travel the whole world and do everything there is to be done. But in the immediate future I'm trying to go to law school in San Francisco and make some loot yaddimean.

What do you plan to get out of this internship?
I chose to become a STAR Intern after realizing how just valuable and applicable the information learned in ED191B can be to our community. Moreover, STAR advocates neither abstinence nor use, but rather teaches substance responsibility; a position that I feel holds notable significance in our society, in that it promotes positive choices while still allowing the freedom of personal choice.
What are your future goals?
After graduating next year, I plan to take a year off to find internships and jobs related to my concentration (Psychology), and eventually go on to graduate school.

Name: Melanie Yuen
Major: Biochemistry with an emphasis in Chemistry
Title: Intern Alumni
What do you plan to get out of this internship?
I am an intern because STAR is a campus group that addresses issues about alcohol and drug use, which is something most college students can relate to. They are here to promote helping people make informed choices rather than simply being against alcohol and drug use. More importantly, they are here to remind everyone that there is always another choice and that help is available. With a supportive team that shows passion and care for their community, I feel motivated and enthusiastic about being a STAR intern. That is why I am here today.
What are your future goals?
My future goals consist of taking my education from STAR and apply it to the rest of my life. Whether it is with family members, friends, or co-workers, i believe that alcohol and drugs will always be a topic that can come up, and with my knowledge and experience through STAR, i can continue to provide help or help others find help.
