A certified nursing assistant job will consist of basic patient care services. Every CNA will work under the strict supervision of a registered or licensed ward manager. You are required to work up to 8 hours a day with regular breaks. As a CNA, you do not need to be qualified as a registered nurse and your duties are somewhat limited. However, a good knowledge of the health care field is mandatory and this is a great path to start if you wish to become a physician at a later stage.

Some of your responsibilities include the observation of patients on a regular basis and if there are any issues, you must immediately report to the supervisor. You are also responsible for bathing, feeding and taking care of the patients personal hygiene and check their blood pressure often.

Giving medication on time to the patient in your care is also your duty, and making sure the surrounding environment is quiet and clean. As most of the patients are bed ridden, appropriate therapy is required to prevent bed sores.

You do not need any prior experience in order to become a CNA. All that is required is to complete a basic training program in the medical field and you can then qualify for a job right away. There are many health care facilities that need nursing assistants and some even offer free training courses with conditions. You can get paid up to 12 dollars an hour, depending on your experience and your competency.

As a CNA, you can find employment in hospitals, private care homes or mental health institutions. Most of these jobs can be found in private homes as the number of elderly people being admitted in these homes has increased. The prospects for a CNA are expected to rise by up to 20 percent in the next two years.
