Learn How to Help a FriendDebbie McHann is our Health Educator and Eating Disorder counselor at Student Health Services. She offers free and confidential appointments for a variety of students, especially concerned friends! Some have found it to be a difficult transition coming to UCSB and now seem to be struggling with anything ranging from body image issues to eating disorder behaviors. Others have come to UCSB with a history of the disorder and are seeking support in their process towards health. Call (805) 893-3371 to make a free and confidential appointmentHEAL Interns can also provide the following for you and your organization: "Presentation: How to Help a Friend" Overview: What to do and what not to do when you are concerned about a friend's behavior, beliefs and attitudes surrounding eating, negative body image, or obsessive exercise. This presentation can be presented as a discussion or a panel of eating disorder survivors. The UCSB video "Mirror, Mirror on the Wall" can also be used with this presentation.
